As iconic as Aston Martin’s grille is, there still happen to be a few options if you want to change things up a bit. If you’re not sure which grille you want, check out my Information page about them. Regardless of which you use, they’re pretty easy to replace. The slatted grilles and mesh grilles attach differently, but it’s not difficult either way.

Needed

New grille (optional)
- 6-Bar Grille
- 8-Bar Grille
- AMR Lightweight Grille
7mm box end wrench
T30 Torx bit
T25 Torx bit
Short extension
Ratchet for the Torx bits and extension
About half an hour

Step 1

Open the hood of your car, then use the T30 Torx bit and ratchet to remove the bolts holding the slam panel (radiator shroud) in place. Set the slam panel aside. This opens up the space behind the grille so you can easily access the area behind the grille.

Step 2

Use a 7mm box end wrench to break loose the two nuts toward the middle of the grille on its backside, and then use your finger to spin the nuts free and remove them. Be careful not to drop them, they're small!

Step 3

Use the T25 Torx bit, extension, and ratchet to remove the six bolts holding the grille in place.

Pull the grille forward to remove it.

Step 4

If you’re installing a slatted grille:

Put the grille in place, then use your finger to spin the 7mm nuts in place. Do not tighten them down.

Put each of the T25 bolts in place. You only need to seat them initially, do not tighten them down until all of them are in place and the grille is properly aligned. Once all six are ready to go, tighten them down and then tighten the two 7mm nuts.

If you’re installing a mesh grille:

Line up the brackets in the grille opening to see how they attach to the car (generally, the tops will attach to the fenders, the bottoms will attached to the front bumper fascia).

Attach the brackets to the grille based on how they align to the car, then bolt the whole assembly into the grille opening.

Step 5

Reinstall the slam panel, then check fitment of the grille by carefully opening and closing the hood.
